Activities

Hot-air ballooning

Launching from Amangiri at sunrise, hot-air balloon flights offer extraordinary high-altitude views as the landscape below glows red and gold in the spreading sunlight. From the basket, 360º views take in Lake Powell, Navajo Mountain, the Vermillion Cliffs and the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

Hiking and climbing

Numerous trails lead from Amangiri to dramatic viewpoints and hidden wilderness hotspots. Graded by difficulty, guided hikes offer guests the opportunity to discover the geological wonders of this astonishing landscape. There’s no more thrilling way to get up close with Amangiri's majestic rock formations than by taking on the challenge of the via ferrata. These ‘iron roads’ see intrepid adventurers using fixed rungs and cables embedded into the rock face to traverse dramatic gorges and sheer canyons.

The plateau on horseback

Depart from the steps of Amangiri and explore the sweeping Utah desert landscape with Amangiri’s seasoned wranglers. Riding trails available both in the area immediately around the resort and beyond. More challenging rides include ridge-top hacks above a maze of ridges and canyons, where outlaws once hid and the cowboys of today still run cattle when the high country is buried in snow.

Take to the skies

The landscape of Canyon Country is even more incredible from on high. Amangiri has a private helipad and airstrip a team of expert pilots on call, making air tours by helicopter or plane easy to arrange. Travel to National Parks in minutes, discover the region’s unique geology from a new perspective, or fly to the top of a mesa for a once-in-a-lifetime yoga experience, 1,000 feet above the valley floor.

National Park adventures

The Colorado Plateau is home to the highest concentration of National Parks in the United States, and Amangiri is a gateway to all. From the wildlife diversity of Zion and the hoodoo sandstone pillars of Bryce Canyon, to the vertiginous wonder of the Grand Canyon, the landscape is ripe for discovery, whether on self-guided expeditions or private tours led by Amangiri’s expert team.

Art of the desert

Painting outside Broken Arrow Cave, close to ancient petroglyph rock art dating back millions of years, artist-in-residence Ulrike Arnold captures the austere splendor of Amangiri’s desert surroundings. From August to October, visit Ulrike and watch as she works with rock, sand, wind and rain to create abstract works formed from the Utah desert itself.

Location

Situated on 243 hectares (600 acres) in Canyon Point, Southern Utah, Amangiri is surrounded by some of North America’s most breathtaking scenery.

Amangiri is 25 minutes by car from Page Municipal Airport (PGA). The resort is approximately 2.5 to 4.5 hours by car from main departure points: St. George, Flagstaff, Phoenix and Las Vegas.

Restaurants
The Dining Room

Looking out across the plains through floor-to-ceiling windows, Amangiri’s main restaurant centres on an open-plan kitchen and wood-fired oven. Beside the pool terrace, the menus showcase local ingredients, taking inspiration from Native American cuisine, tempered with modern global influences.

The Fireside Pavilion

For both private events and everyday dining, this intimate, open-air pavilion is the ideal spot for dinner beneath the star-spangled desert sky. Next to the main swimming pool, beside a grand central fireplace, Amangiri’s chef serves food fresh from the open grill.

The Chinle Site

A short drive, hike or horseback ride from Amangiri, the Chinle Site provides a unique and atmospheric setting for private dining amid the natural serenity of the desert. Dinners at the site are often enriched by performances from Navajo musicians and storytellers.

The Desert Lounge

Open to the elements, the Desert Lounge lets the scenery take centre-stage, with views of the majestic mesas towering over the scrubland plains. Ideal for cocktail soirées, special-occasion dinners, and moments of quiet contemplation.
