Reminiscent of an African farmhouse, Singita Castleton is designed for exclusive use and the beautiful stone-walled homestead and six double en-suite cottages are perfect for families and friends. The full staff complement includes a Field Guide, chef and host and amenities like a fully equipped fitness centre, tennis court, spa treatment room, wine cellar and country-style kitchen accommodate every preference. Situated in the world-renowned Sabi Sand, it features relaxed and understated interiors imbued with nostalgic references. Castleton captures the spirit and history of the original camp, and tartans, ticking stripes and faded botanical-print fabrics blend in with leather, wood and wicker furniture, lending a rustic-chic atmosphere to the lodge. Many of the antiques and original furnishings have been refashioned, adding authenticity to comforting living spaces that extend outdoors onto deep, furnished verandas overlooking tree-shaded lawns and an expansive swimming pool. The park-like gardens overlook a watering hole where animals regularly gather to drink.

Singita Castleton, the original home of the Bailes family is found in a privately owned 15,000-acre game reserve in the Sabi Sand Reserve, adjacent to the Kruger National Park. This area is fondly known as ‘Big cat country’. Reminiscent of an African farmhouse, richly detailed interiors in a neutral palette contrast with traditional tartans and classic prints creating an unbuttoned, lived-in appeal. In this idyllic lodge setting, gracious service from the staff that includes a private guide, tracker, chef, and housekeeper is finely tuned to the dictates and desires of each guest.

Journeying into the heart of Africa’s most untouched and remote wilderness areas, Singita’s twice-daily game drives present the opportunity for intimate connections with nature and discovering the raw beauty of the continent’s most magnificent creatures up close. Each tailormade exploration with your personal Field Guide celebrates the freedom to spend unfiltered time in wide-open spaces and while no two Singita game drives are ever the same, you are bound to be enchanted by vivid encounters with Africa’s most iconic wildlife – which flourish and thrive through the tireless efforts of Singita’s non-profit conservation Funds & Trusts.
Walking safaris are an incredible way to experience the bush up close and personal. Your expert guide and tracker will accompany you as you track animals on foot through the wilderness and explore the magnificent plants and landscapes around you. We suggest a minimum age of 15 years for this activity, but participation is at the discretion of your Field Guide.
Experience a game of tennis as you never would have before. Enjoy your time on court whilst being surrounded by the beauty of the African wilderness. Cool down with rewarding refreshments and a dip in the nearby swimming pool.
Offering the luxury of unfiltered time and space, the African wilderness is the ultimate setting for complete unwinding, while the continent’s healing energies are encapsulated in rituals that nourish and nurture. The massage menu has been designed to immerse guests into their beautiful surroundings, and all treatments incorporate that peace and vibrant energy to revitalize and nourish the soul.
Designed to specifically suit the interests of each group, family safaris awaken the senses and the Singita experience encourages an appreciation of the wilderness from a very young age. Africa’s untouched landscapes offer a rich environment for learning which cannot be found anywhere else and Field Guides and Trackers take immense pride in sharing their vast knowledge – about everything from bird calls to fascinating plant species – with guests, instilling a sense of awe and respect for the infinite beauty of the bush.
With a private wine cellar guests of Singita Castleton may enjoy superb wine throughout their stay. A visit by one of Singita's sommeliers can be arranged for guests to have a private wine tasting or to plan their pairing preferences for their time at Castleton.
