Cottar’s 1920s Camp provides the romance of safari under cream canvas tents, the style of the bygone era of the twenties, while at the same time supplying the amenities required by today’s modern world travellers. Offering an abundance of wildlife, a guarantee of privacy, and some of the best guides in Kenya.
The camp has nine beautiful canvas accommodation tents in total - two unique honeymoon tents, four double tents and three family tents - all with en suite bathrooms. For communal use, there are three mess tent areas for dining, drinking, reading and relaxing, and an amazing pool and spa where guests can relax after a game drive. Guests can also enjoy a traditional canvas safari bath, a genuinely unique way of bathing. Following a recent extensive refurbishment, Cottar’s 1920s Camp in the Masai Mara now includes the signature Mess tent, as well as the Explorer’s tent, and a stunning new interior for a second honeymoon tent.
For those that want absolute privacy combined with dedicated and discrete staff, award winning guides, and an abundance of wildlife, this Mara Bush Villa offers the only real private luxury home in the Mara. The contemporary African style villa can be rented only on an exclusive basis and comes with a dedicated staff of 8. The bush villa has a large living room, a dining room, two magnificent viewing decks and 5 ensuite bedrooms, all with stunning views. The exclusive use of a game vehicle(s) and a dedicated guide are provided to guests throughout their stay. An exclusive 25m swimming pool sits in the grounds of the private Bush Villa.
Three luxury Family Tented Suites include two ensuite bedrooms with a shared veranda, a living room with a fireplace and sitting & dining room.
Two Honeymoon tents include a private ensuite dressing room and bathroom, a very spacious lounge and a large private verandah.
Cottar’s 1920s Safari Camp offers a variety of dining experiences. Guests can choose to have bush breakfast or lunch whilst on a game drive or return to the camp to savoy their meal. Dinner is usually hosted either in the mess tent or by the fire pit area. There is a daily set menu but guests are always asked about their food preferences on arrival.
