Javri Lodge

Inari / Finland

Located 250 km north of the Arctic Circle, in the wilderness of Finnish Lapland rests the luxuriously private boutiique hotel, jávri Lodge. Open to adults only, this exclusive lodge was where Urho Kekkonen, the longest-serving president in Finland, escaped with those closest to him, as well as royalty and world leaders, to feel the tangible presence of nature. Today the standards and service remains nothing short of presidential with a personalized service, cuisine that celebrates the best of local delicacies and all the outdoor activities one might expect to find in Lapland. The Finnish wilderness is on the doorstep just waiting to be explored; to glimpse the Northern Lights, to hibernate in winter’s cold and darkness and to awaken once more in the never-setting sun as summer replaces winter.

Activities

Reindeer Safari

There is nothing more iconic of Lapland than a reindeer, so sit back in a traditional Lappish reindeer sleigh and enjoy a tranquil tour through the forest, the silence only broken by hooves, and the sound of the sleigh being pulled through the snow by your reindeer.

Snowmobiling

The fastest way to get a lay of the land, is when snowmobile safari puts you in the driving seat as you take in the sights of the Saariselkä area, driving over fells and through silvery forests by skidoo. Accompanied by a professional guide, the trail options are endless!

In Search of The Northern Lights

Finland is one of the best places on Earth to spot the Aurora Borealis, with them making an appearance more than 200 nights a year in Finnish Lapland. Let Javri Lodge take you hiking through the white wilderness for a chance to get a glimpse of the Northern Lights. Even when the skies are cloudy and conditions aren’t right, the winter skies are always worth gazing at while in the Arctic wilderness.

Snowshoeing

If you’re up for a personal challenge, we suggest snowshoeing through the white landscapes. Not only is snowshoeing one of Finland’s most beloved winter activities, it’s also a different and exciting way to take in the astonishing views of the Arctic wilderness.

Husky Safari

Release your inner musher and head off into the Lappish wilderness – through forests and across frozen lakes – most of all, be in control of your own team of enthusiastic Alaskan Huskies, exploring the breathtakingly beautiful snow-covered Arctic landscape.

Skiing - Cross Country & Downhill

Saariselkä is the northernmost ski resort in Europe, an idyllic small village but major winter destination. With a downhill ski resort and over 200km of cross-country ski tracks around the area, there’s no better place to try your hand (or perfect your skills) at winter sports.

Location

Jávri Lodge is located in Saariselkä, approximately 250km north of the Arctic Circle in the heart of Finnish Lapland. The lodge is surrounded by fells, vast forests, lakes and rivers with crystal clear water and idyllic small villages. Restaurants
Culinary Creativity

Dinner is a five- to seven-course extravaganza, showcasing wild fish, matsutake, berries and other local organic delicacies, paired with exquisite wines from small European vineyards. Maybe a matsutake gnocchi and king crab tortellini one night; reindeer tartar, lamb filet and cloudberry sorbet another. Dining is always a creative and tasty surprise, depending on the season and availability, and otherwise only limited by the chef’s imagination.

Nordic Kitchen

Mealtimes in the restaurant are always local Nordic fare. The Jávri Lodge’s culinary team promises an exceptional menu inspired by their imagination and pure local ingredients from a roster of trusted and reliable gatherers and fishermen.
