Experience Art and Nature at Can Ferrereta: A Luxurious Boutique Retreat in Santanyí, Mallorca

Can Ferrereta is a new retreat located in the heart of the traditional market town of Santanyí in Mallorca. The 17th century building has been beautifully restored and turned into a boutique retreat that combines the best of the old and new. The hotel boasts 32 elegant and individually designed rooms and suites, an outdoor swimming pool, a spa, and two restaurants. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful natural surroundings and is located near the second-largest nature park in the Balearics, Mondragó Natural Park, as well as unspoiled beaches. The hotel also has a collection of contemporary Spanish art, and the work of local artisans is also on display. The hotel is perfect for secret breaks and romantic stays, and the staff is dedicated to making sure guests have the best experience possible. Can Ferrereta is a place where art meets nature and where guests can unwind and relax in a tranquil setting.

The hotel is owned by the Soldevila Ferrer family, the same family that owns the grande-dame Majestic Hotel on Barcelona’s Passeig de Gràcia. Andrés Soldevila Ferrer, a fan of Mallorca since childhood holidays with his grandparents, first disembarked here professionally in 2015 with the Sant Francesc in Palma, where the astute combination of Barcelona style and palatial Mallorcan architecture still stands out among a slew of charming old-town hotels. The hotel was masterminded by Soldevila along with Sergi Bastidas, renowned for his knowledge of Mallorca’s rural architecture, and Barcelona-based interior designer Nuria Ferrer (also Soldevila’s mother).

The hotel is split between the old building and the contemporary extensions, with many rooms having a private terrace. The Nest Room is cosy and quiet, with a high ceiling. The beds are made with bespoke Egyptian cotton and the bathrooms are luxurious with large walk-in showers. The Deluxe Rooms are chic and sophisticated, oozing charm and calm. The Privilege Rooms have views of the gardens or over the town, some stand out due to their double height ceilings and some because of their spaciousness. The Junior Suites are especially popular, especially the two with open plan bathrooms and a free-standing bathtub. Elements of the original building are everywhere, from the vaulted ceilings to the stone framed arches dividing up the spaces. The Duplex Suites are even more spacious, with their own terrace and views of the courtyard. The Santanyi Suite and Can Ferrereta Suites are elegant and akin to staying in your own private art gallery. The Terrace Suites make it hard to choose inside or outside living, with their own terrace and beautiful views of the gardens.

The hotel’s dining options include Ocre, the hotel’s main restaurant, which serves seasonal and locally sourced Mediterranean fare, much of which will come from Santanyí’s much-loved food market. For more casual drinking and dining, guests can enjoy the poolside bar and restaurant LA FRESCA, the perfect spot to relax amidst the garden, with fresh meat, fish and salads alongside an extensive wine and cocktails menu. The hotel’s spa, Sa Calma, is a tranquil space where guests can unwind in the lounge area, indoor heated pool, hammam and sauna. Guests can book in for signature and beauty treatments as well as yoga and meditation classes. They will also have access to the 24/7 gym.

Can Ferrereta is a place to enjoy the simpler things while time stands still. Whether it's sipping a gin and tonic by the pool, as the evening sun sets the walls aflame, or taking a dip in the 25m outdoor swimming pool, guests will find themselves surrounded by the beautiful natural surroundings that the hotel is nestled in. The hotel is also a great starting point for exploring the local area, with options such as visiting one of Mallorca’s unspoilt beaches, hiking in Mondragó Natural Park, attending the weekly market in Santanyí, visiting local vineyards for wine tastings, browsing local art galleries and feasting on fresh seafood.

Can Ferrereta is a truly special place, where art and nature come together to create a unique and unforgettable experience. The hotel’s staff is dedicated to making sure that guests have the best experience possible, and the hotel’s general manager, Miguel, is an expert on the local area and can provide guests with all the information they need to make the most of their stay. With prices starting at €276 per night in low season, and €531 per night in high season, Can Ferrereta is an oasis that is definitely worth escaping to.
